Biography and qualifications

Specialist interest areas

Dr Sunil Patel is a London based medical consultant with triple accreditation in respiratory, general and intensive care medicine. He is dedicated to providing tailored and comprehensive care for all your respiratory health needs.

 

Dr Patel holds bachelor's degrees in chemistry, biomedical sciences, medicine and surgery and is an active member of the Royal College of Physicians, UK and Fellow of the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine.

 

Dr Patel trained at prestigious London teaching hospitals and academic institutions and specialises in a wide array of respiratory conditions, He has a particular interests in interstitial lung disease, which includes the management of pulmonary fibrosis. Within his NHS practice at Hammersmith Hospital, Dr Patel leads interstitial lung disease clinics and actively attends multi-disciplinary team meetings for the management of complex respiratory cases.

 

Dr Patel also works as a consultant in intensive care medicine which involves the care of patients before and after major surgery, as well as to those with critical and acute illness.

 

Dr. Patel has a keen interest in medical research and obtained his PhD from Imperial College London. His thesis focused on the effects of critical illness on skeletal and respiratory muscle wasting. He also serves as an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Department of Anaesthesia, Pain Medicine, and Intensive Care at Imperial College London and has authored and co-authored medical papers and textbook chapters in a range of areas of respiratory and intensive care medicine.
