Biography
I am a consultant physician who is accredited and trained in respiratory, general internal and intensive care medicine. I have extensive experience in all aspects of respiratory medicine including the diagnosis and management of asthma, COPD and respiratory tract infections but have particular interests in interstitial lung disease (which includes conditions like pulmonary fibrosis). I frequently see patients with new symptoms of cough, shortness of breath and difficulty in breathing and facilitate the diagnostic workup of these symptoms.
My qualifications and experience in intensive care medicine means I look after patients before and after major and/or complex surgery and those who are critically unwell with life threatening illness.I also work in the National Health Service for the largest NHS trust in the country – Imperial College Healthcare Trust and am based at Hammersmith Hospital.
Qualifications
I hold bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry (BSc), Biomedical Sciences (BMedSci) as well as Medicine and Surgery (MBBS). I completed my medical training in the London region and obtained postgraduate diplomas from The Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FFICM).
I have a strong interest in medical research and was awarded my PhD from Imperial College London within the Faculty of Medicine which focussed on the impact of critical illness on skeletal and respiratory muscle. I hold the position of Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer post within the department of anaesthesia, pain medicine and intensive care at Imperial College London.
I have published scientific papers in recognised medical journals and written book chapters for medical texts relating to respiratory and intensive care medicine.
